The Fireflys are a band who strongly believe that the music should do the talking and lavish studio production and heavily produced videos should be a thing of the past, a D-I-Y ethic seems rare in bands these days and rock star excess is almost heralded as the only way to behave, this couldnt be further away from the Fireflys manifesto, a strong work ethic and a down to earth approach to Gigging and making music is what the band are all about, there are certainly no egos here.

The Fireflys are a British  Alt-Rock band that formed in from Runcorn, England in 2007.

The Band's Current line up comprises of:
Lee Wylding (vocals/guitar),
Johnny C (Bass),
Andrea Packer (Drums).

Lee Wylding and Johnny C were members of the indie rock band Warped, from 1997-2005 the band released 3 albums and toured the UK, in spite of this, Warped disbanded in 2005.

The band, whos influences include The Smiths, REM and  Pearl Jam, are advocates For Animal Rights activism, Vegetarianism and are often Politically outspoken against Right Wing Conservatism.  The Fireflys music is not typically mainstream, with upbeat  Major key chord changes married to often bleak, Kitchen Sink Lyrics about Domestic Abuse, Homelessness, Despair and Suicide, however some themes such as Hope and Love are often used in the more Minor key arrangements.

The Fireflys early years comprised of recording two self released demos (Better To Burn Out volume 1 in 2007 and The Warning Bell 2008) and in 2009 "Better To Burn Out" (volume 2) was given a full release on the bands own label Canadia Records.  Shortly after the albums release and subsequent tour "Better To Burn Out" reached Number 27 in the Amazon Download Chart, garnering the album a minor success.

The band headed back into the studio to record the Sophomore album "Cathedral For Your Ashes" in 2011, thinking it would be released on Canadia Records, however Kevin Donoghue, head of Indie/Alt Rock Label Native Records discovered The Fireflys and offered the band a record deal after hearing "Jenny, play your guitar".

"Cathedral For Your Ashes" will be released on the Native Records Label in summer 2012.

The band entered the studio in April 2012 to start work on their 3rd, as yet, untitled album.
